When I saw this story about men's reproductive rights on Good Morning America while working out the other morning, it was all I could do not to yell at the TV. No big deal if I were at home, but I was at the local rec center. (I did start praying rather vehemently, trying to keep it silent. If anyone were paying attention they may wonder what the scowl on my face was.)
I'm trying desperately to come up w/bumper sticker worthy saying that conveys this:
Pro-choice...pre-s~x. The time to choose is before you have s~x.
That is, men & women have a choice before* they have s~x.
Once you have s~x, you've made your choice. You might become a parent. That's just the way it goes. If you walk in front of a bus, you might get flattened. That's just the way it goes. Choose wisely.
All that would be awfully hard to fit/read on a bumper sticker, but then I'd have to explain to my young children what it meant. Then I had the idea of billboards. Too bad I don't have the deep pockets to buy billboard space.
I may not have deep pockets, but I have a deep faith in God, with access to have anytime 24/7. So, whenever I get riled up about this, I'll go to Daddy in prayer.
Footnote:
It was interesting to here a NOW representative trying to explain why men should be denied choice. From what I remember, her point was that once the child was born it is in society's best interest to protect the child.
Why not protect the child before it's born? A baby's passage through the womb is indeed miraculous, but it doesn't magically change an in utero non-human being into a human. The baby is a human child before and after birth. (No pun intended.) Now if people can just remember how the baby gets there in the first place.
*Of course, there are exceptions, but the majority of people who have s~x do so willingly.
Update 3/14: I wrote a follow up post on how the Holy Spirit taught me how to handle this.

Excellent. You are right on the mark! I love how you make a point with humor and love!

Girl, you are so good. I missed hearing the story, but heard the preview for it and thought much of what you expressed. Geesh!

You're absolutely right about when and what the choice really is. (I laughed out loud over the bus analogy!)
